Estimator (Roofing & Cladding)
Location: Office-based (Full-Time)
Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 (depending on experience)
Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Estimator to join their team. This role requires a strong background in roofing and cladding, with a proven ability to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for building envelope projects. You will play a key role in securing new business and supporting project success from tender stage through to handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tenders for roofing and cladding projects
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to assess project requirements
- Carry out material take-offs and pricing exercises
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
- Analyse project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
- Collaborate with internal teams including design, commercial, and operations
- Attend pre- and post-tender meetings as required
- Maintain and update cost databases and pricing tools
- Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and within deadlines
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Estimator within roofing and cladding (essential)
- Strong knowledge of building envelope systems, materials, and installation methods
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to tight deadlines
Desirable Skills
- Experience with metal roofing and façade systems
- Knowledge of contract forms (e.g. JCT)
- Familiarity with value engineering and cost planning
- Understanding of project delivery and construction processes
